MAGNUM FORGE CLIENT FOCUSED IN THE ROCKIES GOES LIVE ON W ENERGY

HOUSTON, TX (June 30, 2021) Magnum Forge recently led a W Energy Software implementation for a client who focuses on properties in the Rockies. Our client was transitioning from a focus on acquiring assets to develop and sell to a focus on long-term development and production. This shift forced a hard look at their software landscape as the company ran their accounting, land, and production reporting on a mix of legacy systems.

The W Energy Software ERP Implementation allowed them to consolidate onto a more advanced platform built on updated technology. The company chose Magnum Forge to lead the implementation because of our extensive knowledge of upstream oil and gas and W Energy Software’s ERP. Our team managed all project activities, including system configuration, business process redesign, data conversion, testing, and security.

Given the client’s new direction, business processes needed to be redesigned alongside the software implementation. Magnum Forge used their in-depth industry knowledge and deep understanding of W Energy Software to help re-engineer business processes within the software and deliver much-improved process flow diagrams. The multiple sources of legacy data presented a challenge to the data conversion work. Still, Magnum’s experience with data conversion and the W Energy Software platform provided the required skill set to get quality data into the W Energy Software ERP on schedule.

“Our client immediately benefited from the move to a consolidated ERP solution with redesigned business process,” said Kramer Lucio, Senior Manager, Magnum Forge. “This successful project established a back-office foundation to propel our client forward in the current E&P environment.”

MAGNUM FORGE ANNOUNCES THE KICKOFF OF A W ENERGY ERP IMPLEMENTATION FOR AN EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION COMPANY FOCUSED IN THE PERMIAN BASIN

HOUSTON, TX (May 12, 2021) Magnum Forge has been selected to lead an ERP implementation for an upstream oil and gas company focused on acquiring, exploring, and developing oil and natural gas properties, primarily in the Permian Basin of West Texas. Magnum Forge will transition the company from multiple legacy systems to W Energy’s ERP, implementing 17 of W Energy’s accounting, production, land, and midstream modules.

The implementation kicked off on April 1, with a scheduled go-live of January 1, 2022. Magnum Forge’s team will oversee all and execute most project activities, including change management, system design and configuration, business process redesign, data cleansing and conversion, testing, and training.

The client has been using a mix of legacy software to manage their financial and operational activities. W Energy’s ERP software is a fully integrated upstream ERP platform that will eliminate data silos and reduce the cost of maintaining multiple systems. The new software will allow the client to consolidate Lease Administration, Division Order, Operational and Financial accounting into a single application hosted by W Energy on AWS’s cloud and supported by SOC-certified controls.

“As with most of our clients, this company is taking a hard look at G&A costs,” said Russell Corl, Manager Partner, Magnum Forge. “In addition to reducing IT costs and complexity, our work to redesign business processes will result in reduced back-office effort and allow our client to grow without significant headcount increases.”

MAGNUM FORGE KICKS OFF ASSET ACQUISITION PROJECT FOR PERMIAN BASIN OPERATOR

HOUSTON, TX (MAY 5, 2021) Magnum Forge announces the kick-off of a sizeable asset acquisition project for a Permian Basin operator. Our client acquired the new properties to strengthen their Midland Basin position. Magnum Forge is leading the effort to integrate the acquired properties into the Merrick ProCount Suite.

Over the next three months, Magnum Forge will focus on getting the acquired wells operational in our client’s software. Initially, our team will review the acquired company’s allocation servers, web servers, eVIN servers, and database servers to determine the ease and efficiency of extracting the necessary data. This review will ensure all work can successfully be completed in a tight timeframe and decide whether a software upgrade is possible within the project timeframe.

Following this first review, Magnum Forge will lead the data conversion, allocation testing, training, and cutover for the project.

“We are excited to support our client through this growth period,” said Russell Corl, Magnum Forge’s Managing Partner. “Our firm has deep skills with the Merrick ProCount Suite of products, giving us the added edge to guarantee all of our clients’ success.”

ASSET INTEGRATION: FOCUS ON IMPROVING PRODUCTION AND NOT CONFIRMING THE DATA

HOUSTON, TX (July 29, 2020) Whether you’re expanding into a new basin or acquiring contiguous acreage, the transaction will require considerations beyond due diligence and raising equity. TSAs are typically short and the pressure to get off the TSA and manage volume, accounting, and land processes is enormous. Rushing through the data integration can lead to years of problems with data and processes for the acquired properties.

Magnum Forge understands that integrating properties requires speed and a unique knowledge of the buyer’s and seller’s software. It’s key that you work with a team that understands production volumes, oil and gas accounting, and lease administration and has deep functional expertise in the software you use. We focus on the leading E&P ERPs, including Enertia, Quorum, P2, and W Energy. Talk to us prior to closing. Magnum Forge stands ready to load and validate key datasets required for processing, identify opportunities for data cleansing (e.g., wells, names and addresses), and diagnose process and training needs.

Call us today at 713-206-8489 or visit us at www.magnumforge.com. Exploration and production are your business. Let us help keep your team focused on making that happen.

DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION MAY BE A LOFTY GOAL FOR E&P COMPANIES STRUGGLING TO SURVIVE

HOUSTON, TX (July 17, 2020) Digital transformation is the “new buzz,” but for today, a digital tune-up is what most exploration and production companies need. Magnum Forge focuses exclusively on E&P companies. We understand that with sub-$50 oil, downsizing and deferring projects focused on operational efficiencies has become necessary to reduce costs. However, these savings are not sustainable, and the trade-off is detrimental to your surviving staff if business continues as usual.

E&P companies must consider automating more accounting functions to free up their teams for more value-added projects that require the human touch.

A digital strategy should be a priority. Machine learning and cognitive automation are in your future, but for today E&Ps can deliver faster and more accurate results by simply optimizing the applications you already own. Industry ERPs, including Enertia, Quorum, P2, and W Energy, have the technology to move your remaining employees from data collection and reporting duties to more strategic activities that increase productivity across the organization. Call us today at 713 206 8489 to discuss permanent cost reductions available using your existing ERP, land, or production accounting software.

PROJECT KICK-OFF ANNOUNCEMENT

HOUSTON, TX (June 2, 2020) Magnum Forge is pleased to announce the kick-off of an implementation of W Energy’s Upstream Oil & Gas ERP software for a Denver-based exploration and production company. Our client’s goals are to move to an updated software platform with significantly improved functionality and to redesign their business processes to improve productivity and streamline work efforts. Magnum Forge is managing the implementation and is responsible for all key aspects of the project, most importantly data conversion and process redesign. We look forward to a successful go-live early next year.

MAGNUM FORGE COMPLETES SUCCESSFUL SOFTWARE INTEGRATION FOR TWO LARGE HOUSTON-BASED E&P COMPANIES

HOUSTON, TX (May 4, 2020) Magnum Forge is proud to announce a successful and on-time go-live for an acquisition integration project the company ran recently.

The client, a long-time Permian operator, acquired another Permian operator of comparable size that also had wells in other Texas plays. While acquisition projects are normally a matter of transferring data from one system to another, the client decided to use the acquisition to move from their legacy ERP solution to the one used by the acquired company, making the project more of a full software implementation. Data from both companies was loaded to a new version of the acquired company’s system, which required detailed conversion validation and testing.

In addition, the client needed to change multiple business processes, including a move from two-stream to three-stream production accounting and a new marketing agreement for much of their gas production that required numerous changes to how transportation fees were held in the system. The consolidation of the companies also meant that accounting and land functions were consolidated from two sites each into a single site, requiring systems and process training. Magnum Forge was responsible for financial accounting, operations accounting, and land processes covered by the software as well as overall project management.

The timeline for the project was extremely tight, with only four months from the deal’s close date to the target go-live date, and Magnum Forge was proud to be able to lead the project to a high-quality and timely completion to help the client achieve one of the key goals of the acquisition—G&A savings.

Magnum Forge’s IT project sponsor commented, “An impressive accomplishment, [especially with] having to pivot to a 100% remote work environment right as we were going into the critical phases of the integration. My hat goes off to this team; you have exceeded my expectations, and for that I am truly grateful.”

Visit us at www.magnumforge.com or call us at 713.206.8489 to learn more about our upstream oil and gas software services.

REMEMBER 2015? YOUR PROBLEMS ARE STILL HERE.

HOUSTON, TX (November 16, 2019) Memo to the VP of IT: Remember 2015? You started down the path to replace your old 1980’s ERP system with something newer and better? Something that would minimize manual, out-of-system calculations and make reporting much easier? Then oil dropped to $30 a barrel and that idea was shut-in. Well, oil’s now holding strong and the problems you had in 2015 haven’t gone away. 2020 is the year to make the move to improve business processes across accounting and land, make reporting easier and more reliable, and cut out most of the spreadsheets you’re using that make your auditor gasp. Maybe you’ll even consider moving to a vendor-hosted ERP to reduce G&A costs.

At Magnum Forge, we live and breathe ERP systems for upstream oil and gas. We install, upgrade, and maximize our clients’ use of software every day and we can help you as well. We have current comparative evaluations of the leading systems and can help you decide which system is best for you. Or, if you know what you want and need a stalwart business partner to help, we have current implementation experience in all the leading systems. Let us get you back on schedule.

PRODUCTION ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE SHOULD MAKE YOU SMARTER. DOES YOURS?

HOUSTON, TX (August 10, 2019) Are you with an upstream exploration and production company that is struggling with well-level volume allocations, water movement tracking, downhole allocations across multiple regulatory zones, run ticket reconciliation, or field-to-allocation data integrity? Does your revenue accounting department use its own volumes to feed the revenue distribution process, instead of those produced by your production accounting application?

Magnum Forge helps professionals in operations, production accounting, revenue accounting, and enterprise application development who are frustrated by their production accounting software and want a proven partner to help restore confidence in their data. Magnum Forge can help cleanse existing production data, optimize or upgrade current software, or lead a full implementation of P2 ProCount, Quorum’s QRA, Waterfield Production Accounting, or SAP PRA.

Our team’s knowledge of the upstream industry and software applications used for well production and operations is a driving force behind our clients’ success. We take the time to understand the business requirements and then stand up your applications quickly and correctly, including process design, configuration, data conversion and validation, user acceptance, reporting, training, and integration with other systems.

MAGNUM FORGE PROVIDES THE ASSIST; OUR CLIENT SCORES

HOUSTON, TX (April 3, 2019) Experience counts, and when a large, Houston-based, independent E&P company started aggressively acquiring properties during the downturn, the integration work began to surpass the capability of its internal staff. Aware of our expertise in asset integration, the company turned to Magnum Forge for the assist.

Magnum Forge loaded data from three large land acquisitions over a nine-month period. But the bigger assist came when we analyzed the GIS integration as part of the conversion. Our team identified inconsistencies in previous data loads and was asked to reload prior acquisitions to correct the errors. These corrections resulted in a faster and more complete data delivery and aligned the earlier acquisitions with the three land deals Magnum Forge had already loaded.

Through Magnum Forge’s extensive knowledge of the upstream industry and our focus on software applications used for accounting, volumes, land, and reserves, our client standardized its data across the multiple land deals, saving time and money for its accounting and land departments.

Magnum Forge has a recognized team of professionals focused on supporting upstream oil and gas organizations with asset acquisitions. We use best practices from our vast experience to help each client succeed. Let us introduce our services now so that when it’s time to make a change, you know who to call on for help.
